About me
Lukas Kodis is a professional photographer and a journalism student from Vilnius, Lithuania. As a child he really liked going to countryside where he would enjoy being in nature with his family. When he was a teenager, his family moved to a suburb. One morning made a huge change to his life. he was walking in the fields, when he saw a big beautiful white bird. He had never seen it before, so he was impressed. Later he found out, that the bird was called great white egret. At that time it was really rare, in fact, he did not even know it existed. he needed to take a picture of it and he immediately came up with an idea to just put binoculars in front of his phone’s camera. As expected, the quality of those photos was poor, but at least it was possible to identify the bird. He thought that he should send the pictures to the news portal 15min.lt and it was published there. The encounter with the rare bird made a huge impression on him. As a nature lover, He became extremely fascinated by bird photography. He bought a camera, birdwatching books and started spending all of his free time in the wild. He has been watching birds, taking photos and posting them on his Facebook page, devoted to nature photography. He also wrote articles for Delfi.lt and his photos were published regularly. Later on he started writing about nature, telling my stories and doing various projects. He took part in a number of nature photography contests and won many of them. He was very happy and proud to present Lithuanian nature to the world in Sony World Photography awards, where he became a commended photographer, youth category. In 2017 his photos and an article were published in youth magazine ‘’Pašvaistė‘‘. He also had a number of his personal exhibitions, called ‚‘A closer look at birds of Lithuania‘‘. Later he attended photography courses and met some people who specialize in other genres of photography, so he decided to try some of them. Event photography was one of his favorites, so he started working in some music festivals. He really enjoys catching different moments in nature or people’s lives. That is how he decided that he wants to be a photojournalist.
He believes that a journalist’s profession is extremely responsible and creative. It is journalists, who do not only convey the message, but also can make huge impact. |
